In the stark desert expanse of an outback town, Jay Swan (Aaron Pedersen) is a detective, a cowboy of Indigenous descent, and a man returning home. He’s come back to investigate the murder of a teenage Indigenous girl, her body found abandoned under the highway trucking route out of town. Even in his home, Jay is a stranger – alienated from both the white-dominated Police force and his own community. Suspicion and dread grows as Jay discovers the murdered girl’s connections with local criminals, town officials, and most disturbingly, his teenage daughter. Ivan Sen’s MYSTERY ROAD is a gripping murder mystery with a brutal cultural perspective.
