Iraqi-born Australian actor, Don Hany, portrays a transformed prisoner in the new movie, Healing.
Mr Hany took up unhealthy habits like eating junk and smoking for his role. His character is slowly changed by a program that connects him with birds of prey.
Mr Hany is no stranger to putting his body through challenging demands for movie roles. He learned martial arts, took up body-building and was inflicted with many bruises for his role in the recent Singapore movie Serangoon Road.
His new movie Healing tells the story of Australia’s Won Wron prison in regional Victoria, where a prison officer played by Hugo Weaving gives prisoners the responsibility of nursing injured birds of prey to aid their rehabilitation.
Mr Hany plays Viktor, one of the prisoners most affected by the programme.
