Hugo Weaving and Richard Roxburgh (left) add their names to the list of stellar talents who have donned worn-out duds to play the iconic tramps in Samuel Beckett’s absurd masterpiece Waiting for Godot. Originally conceived by Hungarian director Tamas Ascher, who, in a Beckettian twist was unable to come to Australia, this production is helmed by Andrew Upton in close association with Ascher’s associate Anna Lengyel and designer Zsolt Khell. Expect something different. Until December 21, Sydney Theatre, Walsh Bay. Bookings 9250 1777, tickets $65-$105. ELISSA BLAKE
