The Dendy Newtown will kick off a series of cult classic movie sessions this winter with a screening of Hairspray on June 9.
The screenings to be held fortnightly, will focus on ’80s and ’90s favourites, spanning genres such as comedy, musical and horror.
Cult Classics will wrap up on August 19, with a screening of Aussie cult flim, The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert. This drag queen road movie was an instant classic and features standout performances from Hugo Weaving and Guy Pearce.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Priscilla, the Dendy will also host a Priscilla party in the cinema prior to the film, with performances in tribute to the much loved classic.
Dendy Newtown’s Cult Classics will screen on Mondays with sessions at 10am and 6.30pm. All tickets will be $12 or just $10 for Club Dendy members with all sessions also available in the comfort of the Dendy Lounge. Tickets are now on sale.
