Last Ride an Australian film directed by Glendyn Ivin from the screenplay by Mac Gudgeon. It is based on Denise Young’s novel The Last Ride. Starring Hugo Weaving. The story is about a father (Hugo Weaving) and his young son who flee from the police across outback of Australia. It discloses their attempt of fleeing at near-climax.This is magnificent film, and it’s so slow-paced and hard on its exchange of vital dialogues only at critical scenes. Hugo Weaving puts energy in his character, he wears the strictness of nature and fatherhood to bring subtlety to his character. He maintains qualities of violent-man and so-called parenting. Tom Russell who plays young son of the character understands gravity of his role, now this is what is called interaction of young kids with their script unlike Martin Scorsese’ Asa Butterfield’s irritating/overacting from Hugo.Well-kept music by Paul Charlier reminds me of Ang Lee’s Brokeback Mountain. Greig Fraser’s breathtaking cinematography and aesthetic locations of Australia make this film diamond for movie-lovers like me.
