FILTHY distressed and being shepherded down the street in her underwear. This is Oscar-winner Nicole Kidman in character for her film Strangerland.
Kidman, who is filming in the country NSW town of Canowindra, was accompanied by co-star Joseph Fiennes in the harrowing scenes filmed yesterday.
In the film the pair play a married couple whose teenage children go missing in outback Australia.
Wearing a brunette wig, with streaks of dark make-up caked all over her usually pale legs, Kidman walked barefoot down the street during the scene, in which she clearly captured her
character’s physical and emotional distress.
She and Fiennes were joined by Hugo Weaving in the scene — he plays a policeman. Before filming the dramatic footage, Kidman was photographed in a white dressing gown and thongs, walking to the set.
Kidman’s presence in Canowindra has attracted enormous interest from locals and onlookers from other nearby towns keen to catch a glimpse of the Hollywood star. She is expected to continue filming in the area for the next week before the production shifts to Broken Hill.
