MovieHole I had the pleasure of interviewing Hugo Weaving a couple of years ago; he’s a really lovely bloke and I tell ya, no topic’s off-limits. When it comes to his upcoming films, if he knows something – he’ll tell you, as The Sunday Herald-Sun’s PLAY discovered this week when they caught up with Weaving to stump “Oranges and Sunshine”. The Sydney-based actor spoke about several of his upcoming projects, including “Cloud Atlas”, which will reunite the actor with his “Matrix” directors, the Wachowski’s. “That’s a project that’s really exciting because all the actors will be playing more than one role”, Weaving says, “I actually have six characters in the same film and they are all different people in six different stories.” Weaving also touched about doing “The Hobbit”, which he’s currently filming in New Zealand. “It’s probably right that Pete’s (Jackson) doing it. I was kind of interested in the tonal difference between The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings and what that might be and thought Guillermo Del Toro would certainly be able to bring that difference in tone to the piece. But many years ago when I left the set, I remember saying, “See you on The Hobbit” and they said, “No, no, we are not doing The Hobbit”. I thought, “Of course you will do The Hobbit” and it seems fitting that he is.” As for his work in the “Transformers” films, Weaving said it’s “a very weird job” because all it entails is recording a few lines of dialogue via Skype. Nice work if you can get it, eh?
