When you pig out on a Christmas lunch of roast pork and cracking, just know Hugo Weaving won't be happy.
Yesterday he helped save Daisy, who stars in the upcoming Hollywood
film Charlotte's Web, from an intensive piggery to a free-range farm in
Victoria.
Having worked with pigs on the set of Babe, Weaving was staggered as to how intelligent they were, he said.
"The pigs in Babe were extraordinary, they only needed to be trained
once," said Weaving, who was the voice of Rex the dog in Babe.
"I would love people to stop and think about how intelligent these
creatures are and realise it's worth spending money on free-range eggs
or pork," said Weaving, the ambassador for animal rights group
Voiceless.
Weaving plans to be with his family for the holiday season before
heading to New York to re-release the play Hedda Gabler where he will
star with Cate Blanchett.
