Actors Hugo Weaving and Abbie Cornish attended the Voiceless dinner in Sydney last night, with the focus of the event on ethical eating and how it relates to animal protection laws.

"I am so happy to be part of an organisation that gives animals a voice and raises awareness towards issues in the local community and nationwide," Somersault star Abbie said.

More than 150 people dined on an organic feast provided by Macro Wholefoods Markets at Otto Ristorante. Included on the menu were zucchini flowers, stuffed baby artichokes and eggplant ravioli.

"There is a part of the brain in people like a blind spot that we don't like to address," Hugh said. "Voiceless illuminates that blind spot in people's minds by raising issues about animal protection."
