After its successful inaugural year
in 2002 which saw nine young Australian short filmmakers
interpreting one script by writer Brendan Cowell - POV returns to
screens again this year. This time out, six filmmakers have been
invited to put their own unique spin on a short story devised
specifically for the project by London-based writer Ben Rice.

Director Jessica Brentnall, writer Ben Rice and some of the filmmakers
themselves.
Who says great minds think alike is
the perfect tagline for the annual POV film event. This unique and
wholly original programme invites a group of young filmmakers to all
tackle the same source material, throwing them the challenge of finding
their own voice within the same piece of inspiration. It's a bold
idea, and last year's inaugural filmmakers (who included the likes of
Anthony Hayes, Matthew Bird, Daniela Farinacci and Jeremy Cumpston)
made it a winning concept, with each grinding completely different and
totally individual short films out of the same script by celebrated
writer and actor Brendan Cowell.
This year, POV Creative
Director Jessica Brentnall has flipped the concept slightly, utilising
a short story by acclaimed author Ben Rice, rather than a script, as
the source material. “Ben Rice is one of my favourite authors and as
literary work continues to be the source of many wonderful films, I
