Hugo Weaving has been signed to guest star in the first episode of Rake – ABC TV’s new eight-part series that begins shooting in Sydney this week.

Weaving joins an impressive cast which includes Richard Roxburgh, Matt Day, Caroline Brazier and Russell Dykstra in the tale of Cleaver Greene, a criminal defence barrister who ‘defends the indefensible.’ Lisa McCune has also been signed to a guest role in the series.

Producer Ian Collie, Essential Media and Entertainment, says “Peter Duncan and Andrew Knight have produced eight very clever and laugh-outloud scripts. And to realise the scripts’ potential we have attracted some of Australia’s most experienced and exciting new directing and acting talent.

It’s a very heady brew and augurs well for a fun series!”
