Australian/UK co-production Oranges & Sunshine  is due to kick off a three-week shoot next Monday - although yesterday there were whispers the start date may be slightly delayed.

It's the debut feature from Jim Loach - son of famed director Ken Loach - and stars Emily Watson (Cold Souls ), Hugo Weaving (Transformers ) and David Wenham (Australia, 300 ). Also on January 11, a seven-week shoot begins for Heaven's Burning  director Craig Lahiff's $4 million Swerve.  The film stars Jason Clarke (Public Enemies), Vince Col- osimo (Body Of Lies ), Roy Billing (Underbelly ), Travis McMahon (Last Man Standing ) and Chris Haywood (All Saints ).

David Lyons, better known as Dr Simon Brenner from ER  and Josh "ET" Holiday from Sea Patrol,  will play the lead opposite model turned actress Emma Booth - returning to SA after playing Clive Owen's quasi love interest in The Boys Are Back. 

Oranges and Sunshine   centres around Nottingham social worker Margaret Humphreys who uncovered a huge scandal about the organised deportation of children in care from the UK to Australia.

Swerve  tells the story of Colin (Lyons) an engineer who comes across a two vehicle car crash. In one car there's a dead body and a suitcase full of cash and in the other, there's a dazed and confused woman (Booth).

Producer Helen Leake, formerly CEO of the SA Film Corporation, said Swerve  was notable for using almost exclusively South Australian talent, including the director, producer, cinematographer and 90 per cent of the crew. Only one film in SA was made last year, (Road Train ).
