International distributor DCD Rights is entering MIPCOM 2010 with four brand new dramas, offering buyers a compelling mix of high profile cast and top producers:

Rake (8x55'/HD/Essential Media & Entertainment for ABC Australia) - this new legal dramedy series stars Richard Roxburgh (Moulin Rouge, Mission Impossible II) in the lead role of Cleaver Greene. The series also features in guest roles Hugo Weaving (Lord of the Rings, Matrix Trilogy), Rachel Griffiths (Six Feet Under, Muriel’s Wedding, Brothers and Sisters), Sam Neill (Jurassic Park, Dead Calm, The Tudors) and Noah Taylor (Shine, Vanilla Sky, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory). The series focuses on the world of a criminal defence barrister, Cleaver Greene, as he takes on what are seen as the worst cases, especially those deemed to be a lost cause. From bigamists to cannibals and everything in between, the clients that Cleaver loves the most are the cases that appear to be utterly hopeless…

Just William [4x30’/HD/BBC1/CBBC] – CBBC’s new live action drama adaptation by Simon Nye (“Men Behaving Badly”, “Doctor Who”) based on Richmal Crompton’s timeless comedy classics. Featuring a stellar cast including Daniel Roche (Outnumbered) as William, alongside Bafta-winner Rebecca Front (The Thick of It), Daniel Ryan (The Street), Caroline Quentin (Jonathan Creek, Life of Riley, Blue Murder) and Warren Clarke (Dalziel and Pascoe, Red Riding), Denis Lawson (Criminal Justice, The Passion) and John Sessions (Sherlock, Lewis). The series, is narrated by Martin Jarvis, who worked on the classic Just William recordings, follows the exploits of 11-year-old tearaway William Brown and his band of adventurous "outlaws", with an enduring appeal that is as fresh today as it has ever been.

Sisters of War (1x90'/ HD/ Pericles Films for ABC Australia. Produced in association with Screen Australia, Screen Queensland and Film Victoria) - This new epic WWII TV movie stars Claire van der Boom (The Pacific), Sarah Snook (All Saints), Susie Porter (Silent Witness) and Gerald Lepkowski (Spooks, Dirt Game). Set in 1942, Sisters of War is inspired by the true story of a group of Australian nurses and nuns who found themselves in the eye of the storm when Japanese military made them prisoners of war on the island of New Britain (Papua New Guinea). Written by John Misto (The Cut, White Collar Blue), and directed by Brendan Maher (Identity, Spooks, Silent Witness), the film is a remarkable tale of friendship and courage.

Land Girls 2 (5x45 & 2 x 100’’/HD/BBC Productions for BBC1), the popular drama returns for a new series. Set in the rural 1940s during WWII, the vibrant drama continues to explore how a whole generation of women helped the war effort, working as part of the Women’s Land Army and growing up and forging friendships that would last a lifetime. Cast include Sophie Ward (Heatbeat, A Village Affair), Clive Wood (London’s Burning) and Liam Garrigan (The Pillars of the Earth, Holby, The Chase) Series 1 enjoyed worldwide sales, receiving high ratings and critical acclaim, notably with a Broadcast Award 2010 for Best Daytime programme, a first for a drama series.
