Filming continues today on the set of the new Australian film, The Tender Hook, at the historic Swing Bridge near Sale.

Australian stars Hugo Weaving and Rose Byrne, and a film crew of 70 people, arrived on location yesterday and shot the first scenes at the bridge last night.

The film is about the Sydney underworld in the 1920s, but is being filmed entirely in Melbourne and Gippsland.

Lyndon Webb from the Wellington Shire says it is good advertising for the region.

"There are the immediate economic benefits of having a large crew located in town and bringing money in from outside," he said.

"That's always welcome and will provide a boost to the area.

"The other thing of course is that it will provide some exposure for Sale and the district."
