Hugo Weaving has taken on Mordor, Mr. Anderson aka Neo, totalitarianism, and is now looking to have a crack at The Wolfman.

Hugo Weaving for The Wolfman

Universal Pictures has picked up Hugo Weaving for The Wolfman, where he will star alongside Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins and Emily Blunt.

Weaving, best known for his appearances in The Matrix movies, will play Det. Aberline. Del Toro will play the hirsute title character and Anthony Hopkins his dad.

Joe Johnston will direct off a script by David Self, who did a rewrite of Andrew Kevin Walker's original version.

Filming is expected to begin next month in London.
