The Tender Hook DVD - Accent Film Entertainment (2008)

Accent Film Entertainment

Accent Film Entertainment is an independent theatrical and DVD distributor dealing primarily in edgy art house and important contemporary cinema from around the globe.

Accent has a core business focus on bringing the very best of ground breaking international cinema to Australia, while maintaining the highest respect for the filmmaker’s original artistic creation. As such, we champion niche, risky cinema, protect the integrity of the artist and endeavor to strive for artistic and technical excellence.

Accent acquisitions to date include Gasper Noe’s notorious masterpiece, IRREVERSIBLE, Matthew Barney’s artistic triumph, DRAWING RESTRAINT 9, the French horror thriller HIGH TENSION and Michael Winterbottom’s intimate romance drama, 9 SONGS. Accent has championed young talented indie filmmakers such as Andrew Bujalski with MUTUAL APPRECIATION, Kelly Reichardt with OLD JOY and Lodge Kerrigan with KEANE as well as the latest films from veteran auteurs such as Abel Ferrara with MARY and Jacques Rivette with his STORY OF MARIE & JULIEN. Accent has ventured into more unconventional documentaries such as the hilarious but insightful account of the world’s biggest cycling event, DETOUR DE FRANCE, and the unique sounds of modern Icelandic music in SCREAMING MASTERPIECE

In late 2007, Accent Film Entertainment will launch its new imprint, Accent Underground in support of truly independent films by talented filmmakers whose ingenuity and creativity far exceed the budgets at their disposal. Accent Underground will strive to discover, nurture and showcase independent Australian filmmakers and ensure they receive a theatrical and/or a DVD release, and help to exploit revenue potential through newly evolving digital media opportunities both in Australia and overseas, in an increasingly competitive and crowded marketplace. Up-coming Accent theatricals include the black comedy HE WAS A QUIET MAN starring Christian Slater, in a tour-de-force performance alongside the stunning Elisha Cuthbert and the ubiquitous indie-favourite, William H Macy. THE BLACK PIMPERNEL is a moving account of the plight of Chilean refugees under Pinochet’s oppressive dictatorial regime and stars Michael Nyqvist, whose previous film AS IT IS IN HEAVEN was a monster box office success in Australian cinemas. After theatrical release of THE TENDER HOOK by Dendy Films in 2008, Accent will release the DVD of this new Australian drama set in the criminal underworld of Sydney in the 1930s, and stars Hugo Weaving and Rose Byrne
