Hundreds of authentic Hollywood film props and items of memorabilia will go under the hammer tomorrow (August 1) - including authentic superhero costumes worn in the movies. Actor Tobey Maguire's mask from Spider-Man is expected to fetch up to $55,000 (£27,500).
The original Daredevil movie costume, as worn by Ben Affleck in the
film adaptation, is expected to go for $50,000 to $70,000 (£25,000 to
£35,000). It consists of a blood-red leather jacket with matching pants
and boots, along with horned cowl, gloves, holstered belt, a cane and
staff weapons. The costumes worn by Magneto (Ian McKellen), Rogue (Anna Paquin), Sabretooth (Tyler Mane) and Toad (Ray Park) in the first X-Men film are also on offer, as well as Hugh Jackman's Wolverine leather jacket from that movie. The Wolverine jacket has a starting bid of $20,000 (£10,000). The Magneto and Rogue outfits will start at $30,000 (£15,000) and the Sabretooth and Toad costumes at $20,000 (£10,000) Cyclops' visor from the third X-Men movie is also available, with a starting bid of $6,000 (£3,000), and you can also find Nicolas Cage's biker jacket from Ghost Rider, Thomas Jane's costume from The Punisher, Hugh Jackman's outfit from Van Helsing and Hugo Weaving's mask from V for Vendetta. Lou Ferrigno's prosthetic nose from the Hulk TV series is not be sniffed at, with an expected price of $300 to $500 (£150 to £250), while the Batman mask worn by George Clooney in Batman and Robin is up for $6,000 to $8,000 (£3,000 to £4,000). There are also dinosaur models used in Jurassic Park, a phaser gun from Star Trek III and Captain America costumes from the TV movie. The animatronic creature puppet from Alien 3 - made of foam rubber, silicone and fiberglass with cables allowing the outer teeth to open and close - is up for between $15,000-$20,000 (£7,500-£10,000). The Holy Grail cup from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - made of fibreglass/resin and painted to look like earthenware or terracotta - will set you back between $20,000-$25,000 (£10,000-£12,500). The original T.I.E. Fighter filming miniature from Star Wars: A New Hope is expected to go for around $150,000 (£75,000). And the hoverboard used by Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) in Back To The Future II and III is listed for sale at between $30,000 and $50,000 (£15,000-£25,000) The axe from The Shining - used by Jack Nicholson's character to hack through a bathroom door in the 1980 film adaptation of Stephen King's novel - is also up for grabs along with the biblical stone tablets from the 1956 epic The Ten Commandments, starring Charlton Heston, and the ray gun from 1956 science-fiction classic Forbidden Planet.
