SYDNEY Theatre Company will present the world premiere of Riflemind, a new Australian work by Andrew Upton, at The Wharf from 5 October.

Riflemind is directed by Philip Seymour Hoffman in his first Australian theatre collaboration. He has assembled an exceptional cast including Hugo Weaving (Hedda Gabler, The Real Thing), Jeremy Sims (Festen, The Virgin Mim) and Susie Porter making her mainstage debut with STC.

John (Hugo Weaving) was the frontman in one of the world’s biggest bands, Riflemind. Now he and his wife Lynn (Susan Prior) are hidden from the world in their walled country house. No amount of money can protect them from themselves or their past.

The play takes place over one crucial weekend. The weekend on which it is planned to thrash out the old songs and the possibility of a comeback tour.
Faced with a complicated past and a potentially disastrous future, saddled with colossal egos adrift in a limbo of wealth and inactivity, driven by their love of music and their array of addictions, each character struggles to find redemption. Riflemind, between Rock and a hard place.
RIFLEMIND GALA PERFORMANCE
Riflemind Gala Performance with special guest Paul Kelly
Join the Sydney Theatre Company Foundation and the cast of Riflemind for a special gala performance of Andrew Upton’s exciting new play plus an intimate post-show performance by Paul Kelly, an icon of Australian rock music.
On Saturday 13 October, The Wharf Restaurant will be transformed into a live music lounge where you’re invited to mingle with the writer and cast members including Hugo Weaving, Jeremy Sims and Susie Porter. Tickets are $170 each for the performance and reception plus a voluntary tax deductible donation of a minimum of $300 per person which is required in order to help us reach our fundraising target.
Seats are limited, and the event – like the Riflemind season - is certain to sell out.

All proceeds from the event will go to STC education and artform development programs. Tickets are available by calling the STC on (02) 9250 1717.
