Firstly they can purchase the collector’s edition of Ladies Please! which documents/dramatises the lives of the three Sydney drags who inspired Priscilla – Cindy Pastel (Ritchie Finger), Strykermeyer (Mark Fitzhugh) and Lady Bump (Stuart Garske).
The film breaks down notions of performance and reality, as we see the girls performing as a group, talking about their off-stage lives and even appearing at Cannes with Priscilla actors Hugo Weaving and Terence Stamp.
With a stand-out performance of Sharky’s Night by Strykermeyer, Cindy Pastel playing footy with her son and Lady Bump’s love life, the film reveals much about la vie en drag.
The DVD goes on sale on September 30, the same day that the second indulgence for Priscilla fans comes up: a screening of Priscilla in St Kilda and a chance to win tickets to see Priscilla the Musical in Sydney or London!
Every Tuesday at 6.30pm at the Palace George Cinema, Fitzroy Street, St Kilda, ‘Tuesday Flicks’ presents feature and short films, music clips and archival footage – and next week it’s Priscilla’s turn. Door prizes are two ‘house seats’ (ie excellent) to see Priscilla the Musical in Sydney in October or two tickets to the London production that opens in March 2009 – all airfares your expense.
