SYDNEY THEATRE COMPANY’S WAITING FOR GODOT TO SHOW IN LONDON
Director Andrew Upton and star Hugo Weaving to storm a London stage
Almost 35,000 Australians flocked to see Andrew Upton’s reimagination ofWaiting for Godot last year and next year, London will have it’s chance to see the critically acclaimed production.
The Australian stars of the popular Samuel Beckett play, Luke Mullins, Philip Quast, Richard Roxburgh and Hugo Weaving will perform at London’s Barbican as part of the International Beckett Season.
The announcement comes after the Sydney Theatre Company last month wrapped a successful season of The Maids, starring Cate Blanchett, in New York. This is the company’s second invitation to appear at The Barbican after Gross und Klein in 2012.
The Sydney Theatre Company announced their 2015 program this month with an exciting line up of performances inculding Robyn Nevin’s return to the stage, Geoffrey Rush in King Lear and The Present, an adaptation of Anton Chekov’s Plantonov by Andrew Upton starring Cate Blanchett.
