A pretty solid cast is forming around another anthology film, “The Turning;” the Australian anthology film features 17 short films, each from a different director.
THR learned yesterday that all of the stories in “The Turning” revolve around turning points in the lives of the people of the Australian coastal town of Angelus.
While the segments are separate, there are plot and thematic links between them.
Actors Cate Blanchett (“Robin Hood”), Mia Wasikowska (“Lawless”), and David Wenham are all confirmed to be directing their own segments, and now Rose Byrne (“Insidious”),Hugo Weaving (“Cloud Atlas”) and Miranda Otto (“The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King”) have all been cast.
There is no word yet as to which directors they will be working with, but if this is just the start of the casting then we are in for a real treat.
Considering it is an Australian film I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that Hugh Jackman (“The Wolverine”), Russell Crowe (“Gladiator”), or Sam Worthington (“Man on a Ledge”) will be cast as well.
