A BUS filled with extras and volunteers who helped during the filming of Strangerland in Canowindra last year headed to Orange on Tuesday night for a special screening at Odeon 5 Cinema.
Strangerland, starring A-listers Nicole Kidman, Joseph Fiennes and Hugo Weaving, will screen in Orange from today, according to Odeon 5’s website.
Cowra residents including Cassie Bird and Craig Drayton received special invitations to the screening, specifically for extras involved in the film.
Almost a year since filming in Canowindra wrapped up, Ms Bird was still excited about being involved as an extra.
However, she was expecting to miss the special screening due to new work commitments.
“I think for me it’s more of a case of ticking something off my bucket list,” she said.
“It will be really fun to be able to say I was in a movie with stars as notable as the ones in Strangerland. It’s very exciting.”
Strangerland’s world premiere was held at the Sundance Film Festival on January 23, and went on to screen at the Belgrade, Seattle International and Sydney film festivals.
The film follows parents Catherine and Matthew Parker, who are driven to the point of madness when their two teenage children go missing in the Australian outback.
The production process transformed Canowindra into the town of Nathgari and drew hundreds of people keen to catch a glimpse of the movie stars.
